The installation “Homeostase” by Joris Strijbos is the physical output of a broader research into Artificial Life, Cybernetics and Emergence. It is a kinetic sculpture which communicates with the audience using light. Multiple rotating objects are programmed to perform a generative choreography based on principles found in cellular automaton and underlying rules of biological systems. The result is a dynamic play of attraction and repulsion that produces a sounds that is reminiscent of a hail storm.
