The 5th Tehran Annual Digital Art Exhibition (TADAEX) took place from 2-9 October 2015. ‪‎TADAEX invited TodaysArt for a first presentation.

Strongly related to this year’s TADAEX topic: “the Language of the City”, the buqs were revealing the auditive qualities of the cityscape in and around Mohsen Gallery. Placing the electronic lifeforms outside the traditional gallery spaces proposed the intervention of art within the still restricted public space of Iran.

Shrouded for most of the world, Iran’s vibrant capital city is swiftly developing on many levels including harbouring an interesting and mature digital arts scene. TADAEX operates as a platform for showcasing, supporting and teaching new media- and digital arts in Iran as well as a network for international exchange.

Aside from a presentation at TADAEX, Ten Verkerk, Joris Hoogeboom and Tim Terpstra also gave presentations at CRAFT (Computational Rethinking Architecture & Fabrication Technologies) in tehran.

TodaysArt and TADAEX, along with several other initiatives and organizations, have expressed the intention to further collaborate and foster exchange in the coming years. More news will follow over the course of 2016.

In its fifth year, TADAEX presented its programs in Mohsen Gallery and Darbast Platform. It aimed to provide a place of discussion for artists and the audience by showcasing selected works of Iranian and international artists, which have been collected through an open call and curated by TADAEX. Similarly, by offering educational workshops, expert lectures and multimedia performances, as well as establishing a sustainable connection between festivals, communities and international institutions in the related field, it strives to establish a professional and open place for all artists, experts, students and enthusiasts of Digital art and to increase the possibility of professional exchange.

The TADAEX program included installations, performances, open call projects and workshops by Ali Phi, Amir Bastan, Amir Farzan Mir Mohammadi, Anika Anderson, Daniel Kalantari, Florian Egermann, IDFT, Maotik, NAME, Quadrature, Rosi Grillmair, ZAB + Mohammadreza Tazar, Zahed Sultan and others.
