TodaysArt Festival 2015 opens cultural program of The Pier

This year, the TodaysArt Festival will take place on and around a very special location: The Pier in Scheveningen.

On the 25th and 26th of September, TodaysArt will open the cultural program of The Pier.
The iconic Pier and the ZERO on Sea plans, in relation to current tendencies in art and society, are the main sources of inspiration for the eleventh edition of the festival. The program will consist of visual art, installations, performances, club nights, presentations and interventions on and around The Pier.

The Pier

Over the past few years, this building on the sea has been the battleground of the natural elements, the economy and failed ideas. That is about to change: the new owners of The Pier, KondorWessels Vastgoed (VolkerWessels) and DanZep, are working to create an attractive location that is open to creativity and innovation. And to celebrate this new direction, the TodaysArt Festival will open the cultural program of The Pier. This architectural and technical achievement on sea, known to millions, will temporarily be transformed into an international platform for creativity.

ZERO on Sea

Halfway through the fifties, an influential, international art movement was born, called ZERO. Exactly fifty years ago, the ZERO art movement planned the event ZERO on Sea on The Pier, but it never took place. With the event, they aimed to stage large-scale installations and performances that would respond to the elements of nature and the context of The Pier.

Collaboration TodaysArt and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

The ZERO movement once again finds itself in the centre of attention. From the 4th of July until the 8th of November, there will be a large exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum, titled ZERO – Let Us Explore the Stars. Recently, there were also exhibitions about ZERO in the Guggenheim Museum, New York and the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin.

In 2015 TodaysArt collaborates with leading creators and partners. One of the main collaborators this year is the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
In order to create links between then and now the symposium ZEROnow, A Symposium on the topicality or ZERO, is organized on the 24th of September (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) and the 25th of September (The Pier, Scheveningen).

Early Birds

As The Pier has a very limited capacity and we expect to sell out, we advise you to purchase your tickets well in advance. We now offer the Early Bird option in a (very) small quantity of tickets. These tickets are offered at a major discount and are available before anything is known about the festival’s program. The organization expects to make the first announcement about this year’s program on the 15th of July, which will also be the start of the regular pre-sale of festival tickets. If you want to be part of this experience above the waves, be sure to get your tickets on time!
